A sphere-box in a plank.
Wow, what a super cool piece.
Excuse my ignorance Jo, but is this turned as one piece & a lid made for the opening half, or, is the sphere turned as an insert & fitted seperately?
Cyclops comes to mind when I look at this piece of art

Hi Peter,
the sphere is from ebony. The hole is concave and the outer edges a very little bit greater then the diameter of the sphere. You must put in the sphere. The opening point of the box isn't the greatest diameter. It is a little bit aside. So you can open the box without taking out the second part.
