My second finial box, turning for a month or so. Maple bowl/lid, finial from the Rockler scrap bin. ID anyone? Wish I would have lined up the grain on the lid and the grain on the finial.
I think it makes a nice contrast and creates a point of interest that draws the viewer's attention to have the grain on the lid and the grain on the finial perpendicular. At least, that is the way it worked for me.
