After seeing all the dyed items lately I had to finally try it for myself. I have some small black ash cores from bowls that I had saved for enhancement practice and I felt these would be good for dyeing. This 6.5x2.5 bowl was dyed with Sumi ink, sealed with oil finish and then a coat of patinating wax was applied and rubbed off to leave the wax in the growth rings. A final coat of Renaissance wax was applied to reduce fingerprints. I am trying this on a few other pieces to see how it looks on different forms.
