Clayton Thigpen

Bradford Pear Jewelry Box (outer)

Bradford Pear with an intense fiddleback pattern. The outside and inside of the lid are both textured. CA finish over linseed oil (OB Shine Juice, technically)
Clayton. This is brilliant! I’m fairly new to the finer techniques. Not sure if it’s appropriate to ask, but I would very much appreciate info on how you do the texturing.

Thank you so much! The pattern on the top of the lid is from a homemade version of the Decorating Elf tool by Henry Taylor. The rosettes inside of the lid and on the bottom of the piece are the bigger Sorby spiraling tool– slow speed, the cutter held vertical at 12:00, pushing the bevel into the piece before very slightly angling in the cutting edge.
