Honduras Rosewood Reverse Curve Box

I decided to turn another reverse curve box, this time from Honduras Rosewood (Dalbergia Stevensonii) I kept the design simple with the domed lid and continuous flow from top to bottom. Turned hollowed to a thin box style wall, and finished with buffed wax, then gloss lacquer. Size is 3" tall and a little over 2 inches in diameter. The grain is a little wild on this one, but I still got a nice grain match! I am going to be releasing some newer designs and woods soon, so check back!

Thank you Michael! The nice feature about rosewoods is they have lines that seem to curve when the piece has a shape or profile. The square of wood looks like it will have straight grain, but when you start turning it, the lines and curves come out. Very cool!

Yet another beautiful piece! What kind of lacquer application do you use? Do you polish again after the lacquer? I’ve just started playing around with small boxes ( also inspired by Mike Stafford).

Thank you Richard! I use Masters Magic Spray Lacquer from Craft Supplies USA. I put two coats on and usually don't polish afterwards.
