Mesquite with a Glow
David Bartell

Mesquite with a Glow

A Mesquite vase with a southwestern style. 10" wide by 9" tall. A branch junction with surrounding voids was filled with mineral inlay. A band of faux basket weave was colored with archival ink and acrylic paint in a Native American style pattern intended to complement the shape and inlay. Finish is multiple coats of Waterlox and a final buffing and waxing. Celebrate the Wood.
Lovely piece David! I like the use of the turquoise colour in the beading. May I ask how you made the little domed buttons near the rim?

Thank you Will. Those are actually small turquoise nuggets. They are spaced via indexing and a small cavity is ground to adhere each nugget with CA. I score the backside of each nugget so the CA holds better. My experience is that they are difficult to dislodge.
