Victory Vase
I wanted to create a tribute to the Ukrainian people and the battle against the Russians I chose the blue and yellow for their flag colors and the V motif for their ultimate victory over the Russians. While turning the piece I encountered an unseen bark inclusion which I was able to deal with on the exterior but you can't miss it on the inside. The wood is chestnut oak and the finishes are wipe on poly and artist acrylic paints.
Really nice work. David, do you find that the poly over acrylic works well, or did you only use poly on the unpainted areas?

Every aspect is beautifully done David! May I ask the size?
Hello Will, I am replying to your question about carving the V feature here because I for some reason can’t get to the question directly. To carve the V I use Sabertooth safe end cylindrical rotary carvers and clean it up with a carbide safe end stump cutter and hand files. Thank you for your comments.
