Lovely form and beautiful wood, Will. I believe it is maple as well - but sometimes hard to tell from a photo. IMHO, your "naturally imperfect rim" doesn't add anything to your otherwise beautiful bowl. I would have made the bowl a little shorter.

Thanks for the input! Always appreciated. I agree Tom, It does not add to the design in any way. I was definitely conflicted when it was still on the lathe and I had to decide whether to remove it. I was so happy with the "rays" swooping up and didn't want to regret later turning it shorter. I display it on a high enough shelf that I can't see the imperfection, and use it as a symbol of all my not immediately apparent shortcomings
