Norfolk Island Pine Sphere

This is a 8" hollow Norfolk Island Pine sphere which was first rough turned, then split and both halves hollowed out to a 1/4" wall thickness.Both halves were then glued, finished turned and lacquered.The accent stripe was added to hide the glue line which could not be avoided. I was happy though, with the grain match and I estimate the finished wall thickness to be 1/8" to 3/16" thick.

The accent stripe also made for a better grain match, making up for the parting cut. The sphere can be very difficult to turn for being such a simple shape. Excellent work Mark, and great photo.
