Cherry platter

Cherry platter

This 14” platter was turned from a neighbor’s ornamental cherry that was cut about six weeks ago. It was dried in my chest freezer drying box and reached equilibrium in about a month.
Beautiful platter Lou! I would love to learn more about your drying chest...
Thank you Will. Here is a link to an older thread that discusses mak8ng kilns. Mine is passive. No fans, just holes in the bottom of one side, top of the other, and a 60 +/- watt lightbulb to create warm air which draws in cool air in the bottom and by convection exhausts it out the top. So far I’ve had great success with it on ash, cherry, maple and mixed success with hickory, but that was just from one tree that i think may have had some inherent defects - possibly a lightning strike.
