8.5 x 3 inch Carob bowl with a Satin finish and a textured band.
Looks like birdseye, doesn't it? Other than the satin, I wouldn't change a thing. I'd add some depth of finish outside the textured area to make it stand out better.

Neat, and I'm sure it's from a sustainable yield carob plantation....
 
I appreciate the advice.
It does look like birdseye, the effect actually seems to be from where small branches were starting to grow on the trunk.
I doubt it is from a plantation, I found the log at a tree trimmers log dump in my area. The main trunk was badly rotted and was only able to get a couple small pieces from it.
