Birch Burl

I ran across this quote lately, and it really applies to turning:

“Wabi-sabi acknowledges that just as it is important to know when to make choices, it is also important to know when not to make choices: to let things be.”
—Leonard Koren, NYC aesthetics and art expert

I've only had the pleasure of turning a few paper birch pieces. This burl was sent by a friend from Southcentral Alaska.

I knew that I wasn't about improve upon the shape or bark finish.

A very fun bowl to turn.
