Ash burl sphere

Ash burl sphere

This is the first finished piece from a 400 lb ash burl that one of my woodcutter friends gave me
It’s about 6 inches in diameter and is turned from ash burl , I intend to let it dry and then hollow it
Nice looking sphere.
Might dry with little or no cracking.

I hollow spheres while wet. Advantages- easier hollowing, form dries without cracking, round ball easy to hold in a jamb chuck or vacuum chuck if you cut lightly, dries in 2 days instead of 2 years.
