Abandoned Voyager

Materials: Totara, Copper, Flax and Copper Patina
Height: 1.5m (4' 11")
Diameter: 350mm (14")

This piece started off at the same weight as the Lost Voyager as it was off the same tree (90kg just under 200 pounds). This pieced morphed a few times as I wasn't happy with the original shape. The back is finished similar to my ragged pieces, textured with an arbortec then scorched. I have wrapped a piece of an old copper around the base which has a great patina, adding that to the piece gave me the idea of making a hook out of wood and finishing it with a copper patina. I wasn't sure how I felt about the piece when it was finished but it has grown on me and I had some great comments from the exhibition viewers.
