A Twist too Fir

A Twist too Fir

I know, it’s a lame takeoff on the movie title ‘A bridge too Far’, but this really is an 8-inch tall twisted peppermill made from Douglas Fir. The twist was achieved with a 3-axis off-center method. Douglas Fir has very well-defined grain patterns with ridges between the soft and hard grains. Wire brushing was used to highlight the grain patterns by removing some of the softer grain areas. Finish is Watco oil buffed on the Beall system.
