A sphere 65 mm ⌀ with 12 openings of 25 mm ⌀, inside a box 44 mm ⌀, 48 mm high, inside the box a sphere 28 mm ⌀, and inside a star with 6 branches of 10 mm done in one piece of maple. Close-up
I create a template of the tool I want to develop and trace it on the HSS bar.
Depending on how far I need to cut from the support tool, I will use a 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, or 6 mm thick bar.
I rough cut the tool with an angle grinder using cut-off wheel 4 ½’, 0.040’ thickness.
I finish the tool using a CBN grinding wheel 8”, 1” wide, 180 grit, 320 grit and Diamond CBN Grinding Wheel Cup.
I round all the straight angles of the tool going inside the wood. The only part of the tool that must touch the wood is the cutting part.
I could add a JPG picture of the tools I used to extract the small sphere of 28mm ⌀ from the body of the box, but I don't know how to do it here.
