#2218 spalted Maple burl.

Finished 4/24/24 and sold for $175 on 6/9/24, this spalted maple bowl took a total of 7 months to stabilize. It then was finish turned and sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, and Beall 3-step buffed. There were some very soft spots because of the spalting, and required re-turning and re-doing a surface because of these soft spots. Spalting can be very beautiful when it turns like you want it to, but it can also be very frustrating, and become a reject, as this one almost was.

The overall shape is about the same as yours except the bead would be rounded instead of square and the ring you have on top would not be there. The rounded bead would blend into the inside diameter. Go to youtube and type in Glenn Lucas viking dublin bowl and you will see the shape in a video he does. Regardless yours is nice.
