1960 Jatoba crotch (reject).

Finished 1/13/2022, Jatoba crotch. The crack was wide, and goes clear through. I tried to repair it with some clear epoxy with added brown dye. Decided I would not attempt to sell it, so it will become a gift to one of the church ladies. 11 1/2" x 1 13/16", 1 lb 9.0 oz, sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buff. Originally, the bowl block had 20% MC, and after roughing and anchorseal, it took a total of 9 months to stabilize. The crack was not evident initially, but was exposed in the roughing stage. If it were not so darned noticeable, I probably would have tried to sell it. :(
Lucky church lady.

Over the years, I've given away hundreds of bowls to the church ladies......at least someone benefits from my mistakes and Mother Nature's flaws. Most aren't too bad, like this one........if they are bad, I destroy them!

I think maybe if I hadn't added the brown dye to the clear epoxy, it might have turned out better.....but, what's done, is done, now that it's past tense.....oh well! :)

I have a few cracks that weren’t noticeable a few years back As well!
It never seems to get any better, does it! I used to complain about my aches and pains a decade ago.....but, now I look back and wish that's all I had to complain about! ;)
