1646 Cottonwood Burl

Cottonwood burl with many voids and bark inclusions. Because of that, it's necessary to get a very clean cut without the need for very much sanding. Otherwise the surface will sand out with a very uneven, and unappealing visual effect, and poor felt surface to the touch. Finished 11/10/2018, 11.0 ounces, 7 5/8" x 3", undercut rim, sanded to 600 w/some hand sanding and 0000 steel wool, Danish Oil Natural, Beall 3-step buffing process.

Your basic shapes may have repetitivity, odie, but each turning has been "tweaked" in some unusual way and that is what makes each of your creations unique! The hands on the tool and the "mind" in gear while turning surely shows in your final results and that is how we should be "creatively" thinking. Similarity can be there, but I never make two the same and that is what "drives" me!!
