New project completed, called this one Twisted. 180 segments per row with 73 rows. Around 9.25" diameter and 11" high. Made with Maple, Bloodwood, Cherry and Wenge. Took around 200 hours to make.
Simply outstanding Tom! It was great seeing this in Chicago and nice seeing you complete it with such an excellent form! I love the 3-D effect you got out of the pattern; nice job on the color and contrast of the pattern! Home run Maestro!!
Tom, even though I don't do segmented work or have any interest in doing segmenting (don't have the patience ) I find your work to be inspirational ! Your patterns and colors are exceptional and different than most of the segmented work I have seen. And, your forms are always well done - not so with some others that let their glue-ups define the form. Love the base pattern on the interior view.
OT - How do you get your piece to look like it is floating in your photo?
