2239 Claro Walnut Burl.

Original block was 16% MC, and after roughing followed by a seven-month seasoning period, it was second turned in December of 2023. Final size is 6 3/4" x 3 3/4", and weight is 8.6 oz. It sold in January of 2024 for $145 to a repeat customer, (with a 10% discount applied). Sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buffed. Walnut is notorious for having visible fine scratches that are easily revealed by a close inspection under bright lights, just prior to applying the D.O. These fine scratches are quickly removed by hand random orbit sanding with the 600gt sheet sandpaper.
Something tells me that the photo even though well done just doesn't do this one justice. Great shape and features.

Cameras, no matter how well the photo displays the object.....never does present any art object as well as it will, when it's seen with your own eyes! :)

After an online sale, one comment that I continually get, is the bowl is much better when seen in person..... than in the photos.

Thanks for replying, Gene. :)

Great work, odie. It's nice to have loyal customers.

One comment about the photo: a white background, especially a shiny one is like having lights shining on your bowl from all directions. The result is reduced contrast in the fine details which become lost in the glare. Also, without shadows some of the three-dimensional quality is lost. You have the advantage of seeing the real McCoy. I discovered that being able to view and handle the actual object meant that I didn't see what other people saw when viewing the photo. An admittedly extreme example is an optical illusion when viewing the photo of my Tübatulabal Cooking Basket standing on edge. The optical illusion was fixed by showing the basket in its normal horizontal orientation.

sure beautiful from here, Odie.
Thank you Alan..... :)
