Inspired by an antler shed lying about my workspace. My focus was to convey the unique texture and color of the antler while having a bit of fun with the form.
Really cool, Heather! I see a tooth as well, BUT I also see antlers. Getting that almost porcelain-like sheen that you see on polished antlers seems challenging, and you knocked it out of the park. Cheers!
It’s just a little cherry box that was carved to shape and textured with rotary burrs. The box was not hollowed all the way down to allow extra material to become carved feet. Pretty standard work on the lathe, then a lot of embellishing afterward.
