Anyone heading to Waco this weekend? (There is a carbide bent hollowing tool there that's already calling my name.) If anyone recognizes my name there, please say hello.

Lauren and I are lead demonstrators. We will be teaching sessions about making jewelry, and embellishing with archival inks. I will also teach a special session on Friday about presenting and receiving remote demonstrations.

We are looking forward to spending time with friends, old and new.

It was fun. I bought a few new toys tools, talked to several forum members, and missed several of you. @AlanZ (Alan Zenreich's) live remote program was very informative and entertaining especially when a drone suddenly popped up to give a bird's eye view of the room. I have the impression that Alan might be a techno geek. Alan mentioned @Emiliano Achaval numerous times. There were over 1000 turners there so it was a pretty busy place. I finally got to see how Stuart does his 40/40 grind and explain what it's good for and what it isn't. He kept the audience entertained with various stories and I think that he might also have mentioned Emiliano. :D (Emiliano, your fame is spreading across the globe). The instant gallery had lots of incredible stuff and lots of boxes for Beads of Courage. I ate too much and enjoyed every bite.

I didn't see Bill, but did enjoy meeting Fadi. There was a big crowd this year. Stuart's session was excellent and when he finished, he passed around the bowl he had just turned. It was as smooth as glass without being touched by sandpaper. Amazing. Heck, all of the sessions I attended were pretty good.

Here is a pic of the Beads Bowl table when I dropped mine off on Friday. It was considerably more full on Saturday.

Bill,

Lauren and I enjoyed demonstrating at SWAT. It was our first time at the event, and everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful.

The comments we have received about our demos have been very kind.

As far as I know, this was the first time a drone was flown inside a demo room at a woodturning symposium... it was just a fun example of exploring camera options.

Here's a little sample... showing the big smile on Bill's face.

And, to think that I was there witnessing history being made. :D I also thoroughly enjoyed Lauren's demonstration. For my interests those were the two best programs.

Alan I think your presentations have broken other ground too.
First green screen.
First video over PowerPoint.
Probably others.....

Al,

One of the things I enjoy showing is using an iPhone, wirelessly to look inside of a tiny hollow form.

It's cool to have, in my pocket, a battery powered device with a high definition camera that focuses to about an inch, and a built in light very closed to the lens... that can send live video wirelessly to my computer.

Rumor has it, that it can also make and receive phone calls!

Bill,

I kinda like hanging out with Lauren... always something entertaining at hand.
And now you know how to spell our last name, eh?
(Our name was spelled incorrectly, two different ways, in the program and schedule, so we played a very short clip of our parrot spelling it...)
