white woodstuff turns grey due to sanding

Hello everybody!

When I fill up a gap in a bowl with a combination of sawdust and 'woodboy', this is a liquid especially made to mix up with wooddust to fill joints, the color is great. But when it is dry and I start sanding the color turns into a dull grey.
I think it is the small particles on the (?) layer of the sandpaper which causes it. Anybody else has the same experience? And what is the solution? Changing the sandpaper I suppose? But for what kind of sandpaper?

Thanks - Squirrel

It sounds like you might be using the gray silicon carbide paper. If you can get a ceramic paper like the Norton 3X brand, I think that it would work much better. Also, Abranet and Abralon are very good products.

thanks guys!
I'll try to find ceramic sandpaper. I'm sure the color will not change after finishing the piece.
