Wow, Bart, you must be turning (or plan to turn) some really huge stuff if you need an eight incher.
Bill I wasn't particularly looking for an 8" face plate a 3"-6" will do.I just want to know they are available for the Grizzly lathe to round up the wood & shape the bottom & turn a tennon for the chuck. I seems strange the Grizzly lists 1"x8 tpi & 1 1/2"x8 tpi but no 1 1/4" x 8 tpi for their smaller face plates. They make the smaller lathes & the 1 1/4" but don't make a 1 1/2" lathe so I wonder what gives here.
Actually a large faceplate can come in handy. You can put the screws in the outer part of the wood so that they clear what will be the bottom of the bowl. Turn the inside and then reverse the bowl and turn away the screw holes and the rest of the outside and bottom.
