What kind of wood is this?

Anyone recognize this wood species? I'm told it is some sort of citrus that grown the Florida around Tampa & St. Petersburg.
The heartwood is a dark rich brown & the whiter areas have a faint yellow tint that fades as it dries or is exposed to sunlight.
It turns well but the heart is very hard & the white tends to split. Might not be dry enough yet.

Grapefruit? It sure cracked like it's fruitwood!

It might be Florida rosewood or Indian rosewood
so many exotics too.

That's not citrus, which is a fine-grained white/pale yellow wood. I've never seen color in it. But like Al said, there's so many in FL, could be from anywhere in the world.

Citrus is primo turning wood, very stable surprisingly, though sort of plain.

Thanks to all for the information. I'm taking it the Hands On Woodturners meeting tonight to see if anybody there might have an idea.
I think the grapefruit idea might be correct. I got it a a wood dump in St. Petersburg.

Hopefull6 you get some good leads. i‘m a “not citrus“ I vote.
this is spalted citrus - probably grapefruit. Grain lines are hard to see.

It could be Australian Black Wattle wood, though I've never seen it up close, is an invasive species in many places it was introduced , got a picture here of the logs, and a story about it, if it works.

The dark heartwood & light sapwood look very similar but the bark looks very different. Mine is very smooth gray bark. I'll try to post a photo.
