I have tried 3 times to upload a pic of my latest turning for the member galleries, and each time I get a message "connection was reset" or something to that effect.

My computer settings are the same and I can upload to other forums......somewhere there is a monkey with a wrench messing with the software on this site or something else is going on! 🙁🙁🙁

Did you read the sticky (the first one titled "Photo Issue"?

Well here is egg on my face! 😱 Thanks Bill for the heads up on the issue and the sticky...............you know how it is........you get in a hurry to get things posted and completely bypass all information, not looking for anything but the specific link that will let you accomplish your task........

I guess I need to slow down and be more observant! 🙂

This issue has been going on for way too long and getting it fixed doesn't appear to be on anybody's hot list. I suspect that the software company that provides PhotoPost isn't interested in product support unless the AAW would like to upgrade to the latest version or even better the Pro version. 😀

When trying to upload a photo I get a screen saying "This page cannot be displayed". This is at least the third day of this happening. Is anyone else having this problem?

It certainly has been going on far too long, especially on the website of a national organization with international aspirations, where visual content is a key element. Even on private websites run by amateurs I haven't seen this sort of problem continue for this long. The first post in the sticky was 24 November, but that was at least a couple or more days after the problem appeared.

Let have little patience folks!

The forum was created by and is run by AAW volunteers.
These individuals have provided a valuable tool for the AAW at virtually no cost to the AAW. I appreciate their efforts.

These folks have another life besides supporting the forum.

There are a lot of us who volunteer our time to do jobs for the AAW none of us sign up for 40 hours a week!
The forum, woodturning fundamentals, youth turning, most of the symposium, chapter officers, and many other AAW activities are run by volunteers.

It is AAW members serving the AAW member ship.

If I knew more about computers, I would volunteer to help. But my knowledge consist of turning it on or off, or in a real pincher reboot it with my # 9 steel toe boot. Did that once and it didn't work out too well. Thought I would put a little humor in this thread.

Al, it's pretty obvious that neither the AAW volunteers nor the paid staff has the expertise to handle this issue and outside help is needed. If everybody remains quiet then it would be reasonable to assume that perhaps none of the members are very interested in getting it fixed. I can see where that would lead.

I have noticed lately that photos posted on the forums mostly hang up when trying to view them. Usually on the second attempt to view them, they will show up. Is that what everyone else is experiencing?

If it's the same for everyone else, then that may be a related problem.

I'm including four pics in this post for those who wish to try to view pics in the thread here......just to check.

edit: I just ran a check on these four flag photos I've posted, and they are hanging up for me on the first attempt......how about you?

Bill, I completely agree. I'm sure that everyone appreciates all the hard work that volunteers do and I don't think anyone is trying to be disrespectful but the gallery is an important part of this forum. It has always been that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and if people don't speak up, how much attention is this issue getting. Maybe it's getting more attention than we are aware of but I would at least like to know that.

Odie, we're not talking about the pictures posted on the discussion forums. Those are working just fine. The problem is with the member gallery area.

If you are encountering problems with loading pictures in the discussion forum then it might be that your ISP is having a problem or the service to your home might have a weak signal that is causing too many dropped packets.

Mornin' Bill......

Yes, I'm aware of the problems posting photos in the gallery. I'm not really having a problem with viewing photos in the forums either. Sometimes, I need to click on the forum pictures twice, in order to see them. The first try hangs up with a window that says it's loading, then stops. The second time works. This doesn't happen all the time, but is fairly frequent. It's not a big deal, because the photos can be seen fairly quickly, even though I have to try twice to see them. This occurs with my own posted photos, as well as those posted by someone else. This particular quirk happens only here on the AAW site, and no place else on the web......To the best of my recollection, this started happening at about the same time loading photos in the gallery became an issue.

Just thought I might mention it, just in case it might be related to the other difficulties uploading photos to the gallery.
