Ed Davidson has been doing a great job of keeping the website up to date. Recent updates:

AAW homepage cleaned up
old homepage items moved here

Resource Directory page updated

Best Practices page new article #32

Symposium page getting regular updates including info about alternate hotels since the AAW reserved rooms are now all booked

Also, I updated the symposium registration forum yet again. The "are you a member" item has been moved to the top with spacing before and after it. Maybe this will make it even easier to see that. As stated before, the AAW office staff still verify membership anyhow.

And Ed just updated the AAW history page with updated lifetime members and the list of 2005 benefactors.

Bad news

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when I click on the link to the 2006 conference, the webpage is out of kilter. The column at the left margin is covering the text message of the main page. I realize that this may be my computer, or setup, but I do not have the problem with the mail page of the website, nor have I encountered the same on the Website prior to today.

Would suggest that the newly edited pages be checked for bugs.

I noticed last night and today that if you click the "symposium pages getting regular updates" in you thread above it goes to the 2005 symposium. I don't think it is a problem with the web pages, just your link above but I thought it was funny that when I clicked to see what the updates were it took me to last year! 😛

Please don't take this as criticism- I am delighted that anyone will make the effort to work on a web site like this, it is a tough job, and also thank you for pointing out the work he doing. I appreciate anyone that will work to make AAW and turning in general better. 🙂

Overlapping website text/borders

If you ever run into a situation where a website's text and borders or other site features appear to overlap each other, and you're using M/S Explorer to access the net, here's a possible solution:

From your M/S Explorer pull-down menu, hit "View" then "Text Size" then select the next smaller text size option. Give it a try…might help.

Most likely, the problem is related to using an older browser, but it is also possible that if the computer screen is set on low resolution there could be a problem. If possible, set the screen to at least 1024 X 768.

Text size helps

I changed the text size from large to small and the alignment went away. Only problem now is that I must need to have my glasses changed, I am having difficulty reading the smaller sized print.
Come to think of it, this must be why I like to turn big things rather than small things!

I would echo the earlier commnet about how wonderful a resource the website is. My thanks also to those who help it happen.

Richard,

Right click somewhere on the desktop (OK, the screen -- my wife says, "how can I click on the desktop?").

A pop-up menu will appear -- click on "Properties"

A new pop-up window will appear that has a row of tabs at the top. Click on the tab called "Settings"

On the lower left of the window is a slider in a little box called "Screen Resolution" -- use the mouse to move the slider to the right and depending on your video card and monitor, the maximum screen resolution will vary. 1024 X 768 is a good resolution to use if your hardware will support it. Even better is 1280 X 1024 unless your screen is small or your eyes are bad or both.

After selecting a value, click "Apply". You may get another pop-up asking if you want to keep the change and depending on your operating system, you may need to restart your computer if you accept the change.

I don't guarantee that this will fix your browser problem, but you can be the guinea pig.

Thanks Bill. Mine is close enough (5 year old software) to muddle through, and/but have the same problem as Dennis. Would have to sit closer and/or get different glasses.

I got spoiled by the 21" LCD monitors at work, but the biggest that my pocketbook would allow for home is 19" -- ohhhh, the pain -- not having a 25" monitor at home. Surely, SWMBO should see that I "need" it as a "business" expense.
