Well made. Spookily smooth and easy. Bit of a learning curve if you're going from hand-held since control of the vertical is not required, it's all lateral.
It won't accept 3/4" shafts deeper than 2-3" - I'll measure that if it's critical to you. The factory reamed mine out for me to take them deeper.
And make sure your bed gap width and depth are compatible. The unit is designed for Vicmarc lathes. It fitted my Stubby 1000 but needed a new clamp plate made for the Nova DVR XP.
Still on the learning curve JA. I miss the feel you get when working by hand but on the other hand my paws are failing and can't take the strain very well any more.
I use capped hollowing tools - the Munro and the Proforme - and a start in the form of a true face at the right depth is a good guide to where the head should go next.
There's a set of John Jordan tools to try next; most of our timbers are hard and abrasive and not best suited to a small scraper tip though.
Getting the laser right has been a struggle as it's hard Down under to source a decent unit with a toggle switch at the right price. Now onto Mk 3.
Have one sold 4 others to friends after a short demonstration with mine!! Woodworkers Emporium has a few in stock last I checked (think elbo tool on steroids!!) I use John Jordan"s tools and the eliminator and just about any other tool fits in the "handle". It's the best I've seen so far.
