Vicmarc 120 5" Chuck Decision

I own two of these and have been very happy with them. The ones I have, have the hex key ot operate them. I am thinking of switching to the tommy bar operated ones. Only because they can be opened and closed quicker.

I am very happy with mine. I have 2 and one of the Grizzly copies and all work great. My oldest one is about 5 years old and has a lot of miles on it. I've only taken it apart once for cleaning. The Grizzly copy isn't as well made but does take all the jaws and inserts. I think it is a good chuck for those on a budget, certainly worth the $89 they charge. It just doesn't operate as smoothly as the Vicmarc.
I've used the Oneway Talon a lot in demos and it is also a fine chuck. I bought the Vicmarc because of the hex key drive and the extended jaws for turning small stuff. Never regretted it.

love my vicmarc 120

I started with a talon chuck, have a supernova, a supernova2, and bought a vicmarc 120 at the sysposium. I love the vicmarc, just wish I had bought it b/4 I got the supernova. (can you tell I HATE changing jaws?)

Vm 120

My VM 120 has been my favorite chuck. I use it a lot and hard, and it has never given me a problem.

Good luck with your purchase.
