What VFDs work with powermatic 3520 that are not sold by powermatic?
That link also has an option for a 6hp VFD. I wonder if it would be possible to put that on instead? Perhaps it would be unsafe if the other part of the lathe were not made to handle that much more force?I've bougfht this on Amazon. They're cheap, easy to program, and dependable. (so far)

It would be possible. Using a 6Hp rated VFD with a 2Hp motor will not give you anymore than 2Hp.That link also has an option for a 6hp VFD. I wonder if it would be possible to put that on instead? I noticed that they have a 3HP drive available for the same price so it might be beneficial to use the larger one and if the parameter settings are sufficient the overload current could be set to a lower rating, but with the way oversized motor ( for the majority of the time the overloads on a wood lathe are very short time wise) you would seldom exceed the current rating for a long enough period of time to cause it to trip out. Of the 6 VFDs I have in my shop the only one that has ever tripped out on overload is the one on my unisaw and that is due to reaction wood pinching the blade.I've bougfht this on Amazon. This is the exact VFD my husband just installed on my 3520. He made a small write up about it for a fb group that I have in pdf because so many ppl asked. It does have a cooling fan. I happily used it several hours this weekend.Do you know if this model comes with fan cooling? Looks like it might from one of the photos but can’t find text to verify.
Please post the write up here, if you don't mind. This topic comes up periodically and sharing experiences helps. This is the exact VFD my husband just installed on my 3520.
