Just received it today and had the time to go through from front to back. Although it started out much the same as others with many carved, colored, and burned pieces that didn't seem to be turned, there's a series of articles beginning on page 32 for just about ever level of turner and a lot of valuable information. I'll be taking this issue to my next club's meeting to point out what AAW can offer those who haven't joined yet! Thank you for listening at the open board meeting in Richmond.

Got mine today and its INTACT!!!!! Praise the Lord. Looking forward to reading it tonight.

Being new(1 yr) to turning and the AAW, I agree with you Walt. I have found the articles in this issue of more interest to me. I am learning a lot from reading it. This has been one of the best issues for a newbee like me.

I 100% agree that this was a great issue. But.... there was simply not enough lead time between the Richmond meeting and the press time for this publication for there to be any real impact. Articles on Richmond (like Alan's) are pre-planned, with space set aside.

Well, this last issue (I got it today, a bit further to go, over here in Japan) and I too was impressed, so much so, that I sent in my renewal form for next year, and my filled in ballot. I was honestly wondering if I was going to renew or not, but this last issue has sold me, I hope it is a sign of things to come, not just a blip in the radar 😀

I enjoy each and every issue of the Journal. My only wish is that I could receive each and every issue in good condition. It seems that I am destined to receive half of my issues torn and damaged. This last issue arrived with both of the long sides torn. It looked as if someone hit both long sides with a sharp edge. Every single page has a tear about 1-1 1/2" long. It is very discouraging.

I subscribe to a number of magazines and none are ever received in this condition. Of course the last issue was perfect. Is it possible to send the magazine is a protective bag or envelope?

Michael - My last issue arrived looking like it had been featured in a "Will It Blend?" video. This issue was perfect. Go figure.

Last time I called the AAW office and they shipped a replacement copy to me right away. It was quick and painless. It appears that the current thinking is that it is less expensive to replace damaged issues than it would be to pay for a protective covering. I can see the logic here. Why spend a lot of money on protective coverings when you can instead mail replacement copies to every member who calls (no questions asked) for a fraction of the cost of a protective cover?

Of course, if too many members start calling for replacements then the economics would shift in favor of a protective cover. Every member who gets a damaged copy should call for a replacement. That's the only way that the AAW office can really get a handle on how big a problem the membership is having with journal delivery.

As much as I am in favor of the AAW as an organization, whoever sets up the distribution and mailing is asleep at the wheel. While most of my Journals arrive in good shape, several have not, and one required replacement. On this Journal, received last Friday, I can't have an opinion because I only got the cover in an apology bag from the USPS. Said cover looked like it had gotten caught in a thresher and spit out. I am NOT happy! But I am sure that I will enjoy it when I am sent a new copy!😎😎
