I just received my first issues of the AWA magazine. It is very informative and, dare I say, inspiring. It's full of good stuff for both us new guys and the veterans.

If there are folks on this forum who are lurking like I was, join the AWA and get even more from your hobby.

Awa

Surely you mean AAW. I've never heard of the AWA.

American Wood-seat Association. This is a splinter group of the ASPWTS [American Society for the Preservation of Wooden Toilet Seats] otherwise known as the Birch Jon Society. 😉

Awa !

Our local turning club is the AWA-Adirondack Woodturners Association ! What, you've never heard of us? Come on up to our Totally Turning 2006 Symposium in October in Albany, NY and check us out. More info on the events calendar. (Sorry, couldn't resist the chance at a blatant plug!) 😀

Funny Mark. I'll never forget when I went to a county fair in Northern California while I was in the Air Force. They had a booth for the John Birch society.

Bill Wasn't that the program that hired people to turn wood just to keep them busy and get a paycheck. I think we need that today. I'll volunteer.

AWA - that was Vern Ganya's wrestling organization. I suppose that even though it's been kaput for about 10+ years, you might be able to revive it. :cool2:

Paul

PS I do believe they had a magazine.

No, I think he meant the Arizona Woodturners Association which is hosting the Desert Woodturning Roundup Symposium in Feb. LOL

Now, now, Kiddies.

Let's have no fighting over acronyms or we'll report you to the AWA.

[That would, of course, be the Always Whining Administration] 😀

I guess I am a little bored while reading this during my lunch break, so I Googled "AWA". Had 8,790,000 hits, seriously. If you want to get into an AWA acronym war there is a lot of ammo out there.

BTW, there is not a www.awa.com site but www.awa.org is actually the American Whitewater Association. OK, back to my sandwich now from the AWA (American Wheatbread Assoc.) :cool2:
