Turning friends......
I've been using double ended calipers for a couple of decades. I never thought I was handicapped by them, but I recently purchased some Versa-Cal calipers from CSUSA......where have I been all this time! These are great! Their scissor like finger/thumb holes allow me to use it one handed to measure bowl wall thickness.....either on the lathe, or off. Although wall thickness can be measured with the old calipers, in all circumstances.....they do require two handed use.....and you know what a pain that can be when you've got your bowl in one hand and the calipers in the other!
