I asked Brent English about it because I have a Robust. It is not the same thing that is in the Nova DVR. I think it does some what the same thing. When the motor is under load, the motor senses it, and adjusts to keep the torque high. This is why the Robust Liberty has one speed range. The ability of the motor to adjust means that it doesn't really need multiple speed ranges, and if you want higher or lower speeds, different braking times, or more torque, this can be done by reprogramming the inverter. This is not some thing to do by yourself, unless you are a mechanical engineer. For me, I just called Brent up and told him what I wanted, and he walked me through it. He probable can explain it better than I can. I can't really tell if it works better than the 2 hp motor on my old PM 3520A did or not. I do like having 3 speed ranges on my 3 hp motor, but mostly I am on the mid speed range. I do think this came up on this forum before.
