value of used PM 3520A?

one of our club members recently stepped up to a 4224, and knows that I'd like to move up from my Jet 1442.

He's asking $2,000 for the 3520A. I've not had a chance to see it, so I don't know the condition of it.

any thoughts on what a used 3520A should sell for?

Whatever the buyer and seller agree on is the right price. Thoroughly examine it and decide what you feel comfortable paying. Don't pay a price that makes you feel uncomfortable. What somebody else paid has not much relevance to your situation because no two used lathes are the same.
 
I paid $2000 for mine new 9 years ago and they were going up in price the next month. New o es are close to double that. I think 2k is a good price
 
I've had a round mirror glass for about six or seven years intending to make a hand mirror. I suppose that I no longer have an excuse to not get started. BTW, SWAT hit a new record attendance this year -- over 900 turners registered.

I just bought the same lathe 3 weeks ago used from a local turner. I paid $2000 bare bones, then I paid $200 for some extras he had like a caster set, tail stock swing away, cole jaw set, live and tail centers.

And I thought it was a good deal.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as (or more than) I did, Bill. I am glad I finally got to meet you. Unfortunately, we didn't get to visit much.

I am also glad to meet you, Andy. I have always admired your segmented work. You may not remember, but a few years ago we sat at the same table during the banquet. You brought a friend (or maybe relative) from College Station.
 
You can probably get $800.00 or more for your 1442. I had 2 of them & sold them for more than I paid for them.

Sorry about the late reply, Bill. I guess I need to visit the forum more often. I also apologize for having forgotten that we shared a table during the SWAT banquet a few years ago. I was never good with names but used to pride myself for remembering faces. Well, that ability seems to be fading. Must be the old age.🙁

A friend who is a few years my senior said that he has a hard time remembering names, but it is easy for him to forget a face. 😀
