First post on this forum...relatively new turner here and just ordered the Frugal vacuum chuck system today as it seemed to be the best bang for my buck and time.

Anyone on the fence about ordering Bob's setup best hurry...he said he will be out of business soon as his vac pump supplier wont be doing it anymore.

He said he has has half a pallet left and is totally retiring when gone.

Just thought I'd put that out there as I've been on the fence for awhile now.

Thanks!

Thanks Bill!..just finished my 2nd bowl..last I turned wood was 40 years ago in school. Sadly no more shop classes around here in school anymore.

I have a metal lathe and Bridgeport mill among other metal working machines and wanted to get wood chips all over the place...not as sharp as metal! My wood shop is in another part of my shop so fortunately all the wood dust stays mostly out of my metal shop.

I'll try and add a pic of my spalted maple bowl. I've lurked here awhile getting tips etc.

You certainly did justice to that beautiful piece of wood.

In order to show off the beautiful wood as well as workmanship I took the liberty of changing the images from thumbnails to full size. I also did a bit of cropping resizing to remove some of the background. I hope that is OK with you.

Thank you! I appreciate that!..I had some help from Rhumphrey from YouTube with info on how to fix the punky end grain and it worked great..I have the other half in line and just rough turned a bowl from flame box elder..still a bit wet and letting it dry a bit...if I'd known turning wood was this fun..I'd done it years ago!..thanks again Bill!

Thanks for the heads up, I purchased a pump from him in August at SWAT, he did not mention retiring. Glad I did when I had the chance. I may have to get couple of his chuck kits just in case.

Very sorry to hear that Fugal Vacuum Chuck may disappear. Been very happy with mine and recommend them highly.
