urethane tries

I put a set of Carter's on my Jet. Got them at Woodcraft. Easy to install and they make the blade run true.

I just installed two of THESE that I bought on eBay onto a Jet 14" band saw that I recently re-conditioned. Reasonable price (including shipping) and they work great!

Per the instructions, I soaked them in 140^F water (with a few drops of detergent added) for about 20 minutes and stretched them over the wheels without a problem. Total installation time on each wheel was about 2-3 minutes.

I will likely install another set onto my (original) Delta band saw later this summer.

It is worth making the change....

I was wondering if they need to be crowned for proper tracking

Generally (especially with the 14" Taiwan saws), the wheels already have a crown so all that is necessary is to install the tires. Sometimes, the urethane tires do not have a very smooth connection where the two ends are solvent or heat welded together (not sure which). If that is the case, you might consider turning off the slight bump.
