I just decided to bring in my old HF 34706 lathe in and run it for pens. Despite the fact it is full size lathe and I was looking for a mini, this has turned out to be a good choice for my needs and I already had it.

I am turning out a good quality turning with inexpensive twist pen kits. My wood is mostly maple, box elder and honey locust. I have been asked to sell these wholesale to a local shop, what would be a good price. The wood is free, the kit is $3.25 and I am turning out 5 to 10 a day depending on my time spent. I was offered $15.00 each wholesale but haven't gave a reply yet. Does this seem reasonable or should I go for more.

I would probably accept it at this price. I had always hoped that the pens would bring more money but lots of galleries and shops have them. On ebay you find they go for around $18 so for a guarantee of sale I would take it.

I took 100 pens in to the woman showed the fine quality of the osage and box elder woods and she upped her offer to $18.00 for those but stuck with $15 for the 35 maple pens I had with me. Overall it was a good deal if it stopped there. She asked me where I got my wood and I told her i cut it myself and she offered me another $200 to cut and haul away a large black walnut she thought was in the way of the morning sun.
