My choice for the Tutning of the Week for March 21, 2022 is “Walnut Crotch Platter” by Kevin Weir”.

When you find a beautiful piece of wood it is often best to let the wood ‘do the talking’ and just do your best to host the wood and its beautiful grain patterns in a pleasing and well-turned shape. Kevin has done just that and done it very well with this large walnut platter. It started off as a backyard tree, was turned green in mid-2021 and then finish-turned in February, 2022. The pleasing shape highlights the beautiful grain and color of this ‘urban walnut’. Enhanced by a superb finish this is my choice for Turning of the Week for the week of March 21, 2022. Nicely done Kevin!

This is indeed an honour my friends! Each week I marvel at the beautiful creations that AAW members post to the gallery. Thank you so much for this recognition. One of these years I hope to attend the annual symposium and meet all of you in person. Until then, keep turning, stay safe and God bless.
