I have selected Lost and Found by John Lucas for Turning of the Week. John’s thoughtful use of texture and color to separate the background from the turned and carved natural elements of the foreground have created just the right amount of contrast. I love that the piece appears nearly symmetrical at first glance, but upon further examination I notice that the woven illusion of the carved elements is opposite on each side.

Congrats, John. I love this kind of work and it's very impressive at 30" wide. Colors are very complementary as well. Nicely done.

This is a wonderful and original piece. In addition, the photography definitely enhances that wonderfulness. Well done on both fronts, John.

Killer piece, John! This would be a nice one to see in person! Maybe bring it Saturday? Might be too big for comfort though, so no worries :)
