My choice for Turning of the Week for February 13, 2023, goes to Bruce Lee Jones's fabulously executed heirloom work of art titled "Rising From the Ashes" This piece checked all the boxes for me, and it touched me personally. After the loss of my wife, I felt the world had ended. I have now risen from the ashes myself. Congratulations Bruce.

Great choice, Emiliano. One of the best parts of creating art is the ability to use the process of making, or the journey as a way to deal with grief, and find a way move forward. Bruce's story behind this fabulous creation speaks so deeply about that journey. Congratulations, Bruce. This is impressive on so many levels.

Nice choice Emiliano, excellent work Bruce. I echo Donna in lauding the follow along process/ sharing. Sharing engages those following in many ways; even without eliciting comments. We run these all the time over at SWT; they really get the juices running. Thanks for that gift Bruce!!

Thank you Emiliano, and everyone else for the nice comments. I like showing how I make my creations to inspire people who think they can't make art like this. I had an overwhelming response when I posted weekly up date photos of this whole build from start to finish. And was totally amazed at how many people responded to me that were inspired enough to give this type of turning a try.

What I like most about this piece is that it uses both relief carving and piercing to make a full 3D sculpture that started out as a well conceived and executed woodturning.

Thank you very much Joe. The form was turned with the carving in mind so where the dragons coiled (over lapped) it was left a bit thicker in those areas.
