My pick for turning of the week for April 18, 2022 is Horno Chaco Passages by @Jim McLain.
This work appeals to me in so many ways. A hollowform with marvelous curves, sandblasting, organic elements, and a story told by bricks, windows, and a turquoise inlay that makes me think of water. All these parts come together so nicely and the turquoise inlay looks like it belongs ( a rarity in pieces with turquoise).
When I saw Horno Chaco Passages this morning, it leaped to the top of my list. I had logged on thinking I would decide on one of two pieces I liked. Then seeing Jim’s piece I had my first choice.
I have been fortunate to see a few of the predecessors in the Chaco Passages series in person at the AAW show in Albuquerque and other AAW symposiums.
They are truly captivating when you look at them up close…
