I was recently given the trunk of a large mulberry tree. Is it any good for wood turning? The wood is very green, can it be turned to finish in this condition?

Thanks
Rich

Rich, Mulberry is wonderful to turn. If you have some fresh cut, it looks great as a natural edge bowl, when the sapwood is still a creamy white color.

The bright yellow of the heartwood will eventually darken with exposure to sunlight, to a dark amber or medium brown. Using a UV protectant finish will delay the darkening, but there is nothing you can put on it to permanently keep it that bright yellow.
