My General 260 (32+ years old) is wearing out. The tailstock lead screw and quill threads are so worn that the lead screw just slips in place, never engaging the internal threads in the quill. So, while Ray Thompson is fixing that problem I went off to do a little shopping, hoping to find a mini lathe.
At a place i used to demo, I was told that they had a new in the box delta midi VS that was being returned to Delta. No reason given, but they assured me that it was fine. So, for less that 1/2 the retail price I took her home. When I plugged it in, the motor ran great, bu the VS was a no-go. So off to the warranty center. Ten days later and she is now back at home ... and just in time too. Less than 1 hour after getting it set up, I received a telephone wholesale order for 20 bowls, 10 in oild and wax and 10 in milk paint. BUT the due date is Friday September 6!
Tomorrow is my colonoscopy (3rd in 8 years... yippee kay yeah) so today is stay close to the toilet day. Tomorrow is a no turn day. So, Saturday thru next Thursday i will be making shavings!!!!
And after not having a lathe for 2 weeks, I am reallysuffering from lathe withdrawal!
GLOAT!!!!
c&c always welcomed
