Hello from Oregon! I have been woodturning for about 2 years, and I have been an AAW member for one. I just found this forum so I decided to introduce myself. I am 17 years old and I started woodturning all from a video I saw on social media. Since my school cut shop class I decided to buy my own lathe and learn how to turn. With some help from a few local woodturners I have been able to learn and improve to the point I am now. I enjoy working with highly figured woods along with live edged burl bowls.

I included a few pictures of my recent work. I hope you enjoy!

Todd,

Your work is amazingly great, especially for so little time turning. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Kind regards,
Rich

A very sincere welcome, Todd. I am really impressed by the beautiful work that you have accomplished. I am especially impressed by your commitment to learn woodturning in the face of all the obstacles that you have encountered.

Todd,
It would be great to meet you in person at the AAW symposium in Portland.
Probably less than hours drive.
At 17 your registration is free with a sponsor who must be registered.
If the local turners are coming one of them could sponsor you.
Bring your 3 best pieces for the instant gallery. There is a special section for youth and collegiate members.

Welcome Todd!
I live in Albany - not too far from you. I'm A LOT older than you (63) and A LOT newer with turning. I did some back when I was your age and stopped after I left home to join the Army.
So here I am many years later with a new lathe and tools to pick things up where I left off.

Mike

With the symposium coming up so soon, is there anything I need to do before I bring my stuff for the instant gallery? Or do I just bring them in Friday morning and that’s it?
