I didn't want to take over the thread about the Oneway carbide tip discussion do I started this:
I started roughing the outside of this 16+ inch diameter curly maple bowl blank, getting it ready so that I could try the carbide coring tips I had ordered for the Oneway coring system.
The closer I came to a nice curve, the more this bark inclusion clicked. I kept stopping and checking to see if it was dangerous, finally, I decided to flood the area with CA. As I stuck in the tip, the wood moved. I plucked the piece off, it was held by a small piece thinner than veneer.
I used my awl/ice pick/center punch to investigate... DEEP hole, I figured I'd be making a set of bowls with holes. I already have one that I can't sell, so I'm going to make that one into a hollowform and go back to the rack and find another blank to try.
