I know that some of you guy's have stated you've had excellent service from the Nova or Teknatool people. Sorry to burst your bubble but I've been trying , off and on, for two years to order a set of pinions for a titan chuck. Today I'm done trying, in my opinion that company s***s. Don't buy anything from them they will not stand behind it!!!! I met with the rep at the symposium and was hopeful I would get the parts I need. Done, junk, stay away!

I chipped the teeth on the pinion gears on my vicmark a couple of times. Craft Supplies sent me new ones. They eventually told me to send the chuck back in, and they replaced it. No problems since. You might give them a call.

I've had excellent response from Nova and from Craft Supplies whenever I ordered something. Sorry you haven't had the same success. I would highly recommend them.

Frank,
Just a couple of months ago I striped the tightening pinion in my super nova chuck so I called them and the service man was very nice and sent me two at no charge and told me how to change them over.
I was truly impressed with the service.
I am sorry for your experience, you might try again for the service dept.

I've tried calling several times, always the same response, "we'll have someone call you back" I now have a mental vision of the cob-web covered skeleton sitting by the phone. E-mails go unanswered as well. worthless!

I always had great service when the U.S. "replacement/repair" shop was in W. VA. However, I recently ordered a live center from the new location in Florida and had to send it back for a refund. They didn't seem to question it either. The center was packaged so poorly (looked like it was just tossed into the box) and as a result dinged up. I don't know if this is the same place as you are referring to, but can understand your disappointment. I have a large investment (at least for me) in Teknatool chucks and was very disappointed in that order. I am not sure why they changed shops, but W. VA always squared me away. That experience and a G3 with step jaws slightly out of true (not the only out of true set) leaves me wondering if I should continue to invest in Teknatool. Your report certainly doesn't sway my thinking in favor of Teknatool.

Regards,

Matt

I'm also in the group of several hundred or more (I'm certain) that think the absolute opposite of your rants. I lost the circlip while cleaning the back of my Titan and was sent a new one with no charge overnight. I've one of every chuck they make and probably every jaw set as well, and have not had any problems with them in spite of my abuse of the older ones. Other than attempting to denigrate a well established and well supported brand, what is your purpose here?

I have a Titan,2supers,2super 2s,1 Original and a midi.plus about every set of jaws they make.I have dealt with them from Aus,WV.and Fla.and have had NO problems with any of them. I rounded out a pinion on my Titan (Don't ask) and the guy in fla sent one to me in under a week. I really don't understand you having problems with them.
As always just my $.02:cool2:

I suppose it is like all other vendors, there are problems from time to time. In general I have been pleased with their products for the money to the extent that I have purchased hundreds of dollars in chucks, jaws and a live center (the one I returned was a second because I liked the first so much). However, I can't say that I haven't had to exchange/replace items because of QA issues. That said, other than the Florida case I have always gotten good service.

Oh by the way, I don't think ranting from time to time about a vendor is a bad thing. It makes your fellow turners aware of potential patterns developing while ultimately improving the service of the vendor that is truely interested in customer concerns. How else can you make an informed decision if you don't hear the bads with the goods. Besides, each person eventually ends up judging a vendor's product quality for themselves as is apparent in this thread.

Best regards,

Matt
