I read an interesting post on WoodCentral discussing taking photos and the quality of phots posted. I asked the following on WC and would be interested in any information i can get from this group also.

I read this post with a lot of interest because i have finally gotten to a point in my turning ability that I would like to post some pictures and get constructive criticism.

I have been looking around for a site that provides good instructions and examples of how to photograph turnings but to my surprise they are hard to find.

Does anyone know of a site that explains how to take and compose good photos without having to invest a lot of money into elaborate photography equipment.

Thank You for any information and guidance.
Dave

Dave I have some information I can send you about lighting. Send me an e-mail at johnclucas@charter.net and I'll send what I have. There have been several good articles in American Woodurner about shooting turning. There are also some good books on photographing craft work. I've had good success with people building the photo booth and then just trying it out. Send in photos of the piece and your setup to this site or Woodcentral and simply ask how to improve them. Jamie Donaldson and I monitor both sites and will be glad to help but there are a lot of really knowledgeable people who will also help.

Dave - the AAW has a couple of articles on the website to give some guidelines about how to accomplish that. They are in the AW Journal section
here

There was also an article in the AW Journal in the last 2 or 3 issues.
