Symposium Rooms

This may have already come across here and I missed it, but I just called to make resevations at the host hotel, The Galthouse. Only rooms they have are for the symposium are $225 per night instead of the rates listed on the syposium page. Anybody find anything cheaper than that nearby? At that rate I'll just stay home and read about it later 🙁

Did you tell them you're AAW? IIf the hotel's not full, I would have thought they should honor the promo price. Convention hotels sometimes reserve higher priced rooms for other guests, but will make arrangements with other hotels close by for additional rooms at a "committment" price. You should ask about that, but not through the website.

I told them that I was with AAW but they said there was only a very limited number of rooms at that rate, which does seem a little like false advertising but typical of this kind of thing. I just searched and found a Confort Inn on 2nd street across from the convention center and 2 blocks from The Galthouse, $79 for a king. May not be as fancy but for the difference in price I can learn to like it! 🙂

There might be cheap(er) rooms at the Galt

I went through Travelocity on a whim and found $87.5 per night for a 4 night stay.
Downside is that is a pre-pay deal.
With my luck it is a (cigar) smoking room with an ice machine in the corner , right near the dumpsters.
But it is in the Galt.

Check there, they may have more at that rate.
